Meet Me at Mazzaro’s, the first cookbook from St. Petersburg’s beloved Mazzaro’s Italian Market, is slated for release summer 2016.
The 180-page coffee table style book, authored by the owners of Mazzaro’s, the Cucarros, contains beautiful images, recipes and candid stories about the personalities that have made the market one of Florida’s favorite culinary destinations. The book also serves as a reference guide for the thousands of authentic Italian products sold at Mazzaro’s.
Meet Me at Mazzaro’s traces the market’s origins since the family arrived in St. Petersburg in the early 1980s and found none of the favorite foods they were accustomed to enjoying back home in Pittsburgh. With zero food industry experience, the Cuccaros took matters into their own, hardworking hands and opened bagel shops, a coffee roaster, shrimp store and bread bakery across Tampa/St. Petersburg. As the new family businesses grew, they consolidated under one umbrella–Mazzaro’s Italian Market.
Known as “The Disney of 22nd Avenue,” Mazzaro’s has developed into a playground for foodies, boasting endless shelves of olive oil, imported wines and cheeses, a zoo of pasta shapes, bakery, deli, café, beer garden and more.
Meet Me at Mazzaro’s shares the market’s history, products and recipes through 13 chapters: Origins, Caffe, Pasta, Cheese, Salumi, Bread, Deli, Meats, Fish, Vegetables, Oil, Wine and Sweets.

Meet Me at Mazzaro’s was co-authored by Chris Sherman, a former St. Petersburg Times food critic and current restaurant editor at Florida Trend. The book also includes a collection of stunning images shot by award-winning Tampa-based photographer Amy Pezzicara.
